Agency-directed services for Medicaid waiver recipients in Virginia, specifically under the Cardinal Care, Community Living, and Family and Individual Support Waivers, are designed to enhance the quality of life and promote independence for individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses. We provide necessary support tailored to individual unique needs, fostering a person-centered approach to care.
Beyond The Bedside emphasizes a person-centered planning approach. This involves collaborating with the individual and their family to develop personalized care plans that reflect personal preferences, goals, and aspirations. We respect personal choice in selecting caregivers and are committed to collaborating with families to find the best match, whether that involves hiring a qualified family member or identifying the right provider from our agency.
Personal Care Assistance:
Help with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to support individuals in their homes.
Assistance with skills that support daily functioning and quality of life such as meal preparation, shopping, housekeeping, laundry, access to the community, monitoring of self-administered medications, and monitoring of health status and physical condition
Respite Care: Temporary relief for primary caregivers, allowing them to take breaks while ensuring their loved ones receive care in a safe environment.
Companion (DD Waivers Only): Provides non-medical care, support, and socialization in accordance with the therapeutic goals outlined in the individual support plan. Allowable activities include routine supports for IADL needs, such as meal preparation, community access, and shopping. Companion services provide opportunities for recipients to engage in community events, social gatherings, and recreational activities, fostering connections and reducing isolation.
Beyond The Bedside is committed to providing high-quality services that comply with state and federal regulations. This includes ongoing training for staff, regular evaluations, and feedback mechanisms to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery. Agency-Directed personal care services shall be limited to 40 hours of services per week for 52 weeks per year (some exceptions apply based on DMAS criteria).
